Conductor Dan Stowe 

Dstowe

A member of the Notre Dame faculty since 1993, Daniel Stowe directs the Notre Dame Glee Club, Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra and Notre Dame Collegium Musicum. He has conducted the University Chorus, Chamber Singers and Early Music Ensemble of U.C. Davis, as well as the Cornell Chorale and Cayuga Vocal Ensemble. Stowe has also appeared as a guest conductor with the South Bend Symphony and the South Bend Chamber Singers.

Claire

 

Claire Mahoney, Co-President: 

Claire is a senior studying Neuroscience & Behavior with a Compassionate Care in Medicine minor. She formerly lived in Breen-Phillips Hall and she is originally from Eagle River Alaska. As part of NDSO, she plays viola and served as Treasurer (2020-2021) and Co-President (2021-2022). Claire spends her free time practicing, baking, hiking, and camping. 

 

 

 


Ian Johnston, Co-President:

Ian Johnston is a rising senior Music Performance and ACMS double major from Corpus Christi, Texas who currently lives off-campus but previously was in Siegfried Hall (Ramble On!). Ian plays horn for the Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra. When he isn't hanging out in the back row with the rest of the horns doing bad card tricks, he likes to cook and take naps if homework gives him the opportunity. 

 


 

Cecilia

Cecilia O'Brien, Vice President: 

Cecilia is a junior at Notre Dame studying Neuroscience and Behavior. She plays the violin in the Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra and also for dorm Mass. She is from Dallas, Texas, and lives in Flaherty Hall. When not practicing, studying, or in a lab she enjoys running and cooking.


Christal Chen, Treasurer: 

Christal Chen

Christal plays Oboe and is a current sophomore studying Finance at Notre Dame. She is originally from China, and currently lives in Chino Hills, California. She now lives in Johnson Family Hall on Campus. She serves as treasurer for the NDSO board. Christal likes fashion, traveling, and working out when she’s free.

Ryan Downey, Secretary:

 

Ryan Downey plays double bass in the orchestra and is currently a Junior at Notre Dame. He is from South Bend, IN, so he spent a lot of his childhood on the Notre Dame campus. He is currently double majoring in Political Science and Music Performance (Guitar). Outside of the orchestra, Ryan is in the ND Drumline, the jazz band, and the New Orleans Brass Band. In his free time, Ryan enjoys strolling around downtown South Bend and performing at any open mic possible. Besides the double bass, Ryan plays guitar, cello, and piano. When he isn't practicing music, he is usually at the Ricci Volleyball Courts. 


Nathan Cole, Community Engagement Liaison:

Hi NDSO! My name is Nathan Cole, and I am a junior cellist! This year, I will serve as one of your Outreach Liaisons. I am from Arlington Heights, Illinois, just Northwest of the city of Chicago, and here at Notre Dame, I am a proud resident of Keenan Hall. I am majoring in Science Preprofessional studies with minors in CCIM and Theology! Some of my favorite things here at ND, alongside being in the Orchestra, include playing basketball with my friends, taking trips to the Grotto, and getting ready for the Keenan Revue! I cannot wait a great year with you all!

 

Sean

Sean Ford, Community Engagement Liaison: 

Sean is a senior Business Analytics major with a minor in Energy Studies. He is from Tinley Park, IL, a south suburb of Chicago and currently lives off-campus after having spent three years in Fisher Hall. He is a member of the French horn section and serves as Community Outreach Liaison for the NDSO board. When he's not playing French horn, he enjoys soccer, tennis, hiking, and any reason to hang out with friends. His greatest binge watching accomplishment is finishing season 2 of Stranger Things in a single day. He is also really excited to get back in touch with everyone as well as welcome new members!


Erica Lim, Social Media Liaison:

Erica is a senior majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Bioengineering. She is from Columbia, Missouri, and formerly lived in Flaherty Hall the past three years. Erica plays the cello in the Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra and also in the Notre Dame Folk Choir. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, playing piano, and spending time with friends.


Julia

Julia Florek Carlson, Social Media Liaison: 

Julia plays violin and is a rising junior studying Biochemistry at Notre Dame. She is originally from Chicago and lives in Breen-Phillips Hall on campus. Last summer, she did chemical research in Heidelberg, Germany and is returning to Europe again this Fall to study abroad in Galway. Julia enjoys traveling, running (when she’s not injured), reading, and listening to podcasts. This is her second year serving as one of NDSO's Social Media Liaisons.
